The Storm and the Hired Man

The wind blew the muck out of the peatlands,
and blackened the sky like Gethsemane.
It billowed around the landmark oak
and advanced up the lane.
Germaine dropped everything and ran for the house.
The cattle lowed as the barn disappeared,
and though she pleaded
with him to stay,
he left to check on the herd.

If it's Friday, it's time for a little flash fiction, and if you can do it in 55 words, tell the G-Man of Friday Flash 55 fame.

Enjoy the weekend, whenever it starts.
Peace out.

Jemi,
Thank you so much.

Brian,
Thanks, man. I appreciate you reading.

G-Man,
I never saw that picture but I heard about it. Thank you for hosting a fun event, even though I've been an erratic participant. On Friday's now, I always think about Flash.

Lime,
Thank you! I love the 55 exercise, and the challange of creating a cliffhanger.

(Well, your link didn't work, but I found it anyway - LOL!)

Now that's a 55 with a twist(er)!

Oh dear, sounds a bit like The opening scene from the Wizard of Oz with the coming tornado and the house being sucked up by the wind.
Very nice, concise 55.

Anne,
Thank you so much.

Eric,
I know. I redid it though and I think the second one worked. I'm not very good at that formatting. Thanks for taking the time to find me anyway!

Daydreamer,
Thank you! Being compared to the Wizard of Oz ain't too bad!

Liza,
Thanks so much!!

Oh, wow, this is great! Rich descriptions have me envisioning a storm similar to the early one in The Wizard of Oz.

I saw weather that felt like that this past weekend.

No where near as bad, but the whole sky went black

Pearl,
Thank you so much!

Al,
Did you? It's scary, yet exciting when the sky turns black. Thanks for coming over!
