Friday Flash 55 - Faith Or Reason

She saw a falling star and made a wish. But it was probably only a piece of space junk and the wish negated. Tons of junk were in orbit and sometimes stray pieces drifted too close to the boundary between turbulence and calm, falling to Earth if they survived the inferno. All the time falling.

If it's Friday it's time for flash fiction in 55. Visit the G-Man, the maestro of Flash, to read more.

TGIF. May the rains stop and the water recede.

You could say we were both spaced out about our 55's?! lol

I wonder just how much junk is floating about up there? Great 55.

Isn't it crazy that we've not only littered every magnificent scrap of this planet, but we've got the same thing going on in space?

Loved your 55, Yvonne. :)

Loads of junk up there. Nice one.

I imagine it as much the same thing, whatever is burning up from across the void has to be seen by the imagination as magical--though a hunk of ancient rock is probably just as prosaic as a bit of space junk. Our brains! Always a mystery. Loved it Yvonne.

I don't care what's burning up, I'll make my wish anyway. Though if it's a telecommunications satellite my wish might become that I got better reception.

It all looks like stars to me, so I taking my wish, too.

I'd rather believe it part of a star. Like the idea of stars better than junk.
Wonderful writing.

The mind boggles as to just how much junk is floating around space. Life is certainly a lottery ...

... the notion of space junk is a little scary! Nice 55!

And still the sky is so romantic!
PS. My English must be awful. I wasn't specially sad. Good memories are one of those things that nobody should dare to take from us (red-colored us from the color of the sun)
:-)

Yvonne Osborne said...

Pet,
Your English is good but as you know, it is a difficult language, easily misinterpreted! Two things they can't take away from you: your memories and your name.

Scary how we've managed to not only mess up our planet with pollution but our space too. so sad.

Wow, I am fortuitously late in reading this because right now there is a meteor shower going on! This was such a good 55, made even more fun by your background template!

Yvonne Osborne said...

Jemi,
Thanks for commenting. I could've added in a Earth Day addendum. We are a throwaway society and pollute everything we touch. It's depressing.

Lydia,
I'm so glad you did! I love meteor showers. Thanks so much.

And does it really matter? I love your closing line Yvonne, "All the time falling." That takes it to another level.

Vanessa Victoria Kilmer said...

Space junk / falling stars - they're all the same in the wishing game.

Mary,
Hey! Thanks so much!

Nessa,
I guess it has to be the same if we can't tell the difference. I never realized until recently how much junk we've put into orbit. Thanks!!!
