Taking the tone of the company you keep

We passed three bars before we found one
you could be seen in.
You threw darts that wouldn’t stick
and I looked for songs on the jukebox
that wouldn’t make you want to leave.
Everyone wants to leave the country to turn fifty.
After the train pulled out
I fluffed pillows into the shape of you.

If you write a flash in 55 words (no more and no less) vist the G-Man (Mr-Knowitall, himself) and let him know. If not, visit him anyway and read some others.

What are you doing today? I'm watching for my first robin, planting seeds and query pondering.

TGIF and all that jazz.

Here's to blogging! (raises coffee cup)

You have a robin? I'm so jealous!! :)

Today I get to start revising because I finished off the first draft yesterday. I'm still happy dancing :)

Not yet, but I'm watching!

I saw you had finished. You know, revising is fun too.

Yvonne, This is a great first paragraph for your next novel.

Wonderful imagery and insight into the characters in just 55.
I've overfilled my plate today--feeding cats for friend, waiting for movers for someone else, writing blog post, writing novel (I hope), going to bank and library. Shesh.

Great flash piece. Inspiring.

I'm working. Wishing it wouldn't snow when it's supposed to be spring. That kind of jazz.

You do this 55 thing so well. I am in awe. And I'm waiting for a robin or a cardinal, too. :)

Fickleinpink,
Thank you so much! I'm very pleased you happened upon my blog. And a follower too? Much thanks!

Tricia,
Thank you. Really appreciate you taking the time to say hello with all that going on!

Buzzard,
hmmm, you think so? It's actually part of a bigger piece which I've often thought I could expand on. Thank you so much for the comment.

Elana,
Hi! Thanks so much. It means a lot to me. About that snow...yeah, it's coming in. By working, I bet you mean writing. If so...that ain't work!

Sarahjayne,
Thank you. I'm humbled, truly. I'm also indebted to you because so many have found me from your blog. So a double thanks.

I saw a red-winged blackbird today but no robin.

I like your 55 and the fluffing of the pillow in his shape.

Sometimes keeping your love around is a lot of work. And then they go anyway.

Some people just don't deal well with aging... oh well, their stories make terrific fodder for 55s! Very creative - I particularly like your last line.

I love the disjointed feel of your 55. Sometimes things are just off.

Oscar Wilde has the best quotes.

Yaye, Spring!

1st Day of Spring!

Connie,
Thank you. Happy to have you stop in.

Alice,
Ha! Your comment made me smile....yes, sometimes love is a lot of work. Thanks.

Felicitas,
Thank you very much. Yeah. . . don't you just love writing about people??

Nessa,
Thank you! Yes, I agree with you about Wilde. Thanks for taking a look at my 55 effort.
