The girl left the house at dusk and the
dog joined her. They hunted field mice in the pasture under the eye of the
moon. His excitement pleased her. The grass rustled, and the night was warm. He suddenly paused with his nose aquiver and hackles high. The voices from
the farmhouse grew distant.
Friday Flash 55 with Mr. Knowitall is back!! If you have a story in 55 words you'd like to tell, visit him here and let him know, or even if you don't, check the link for lots of super shorts.
I'm a little rusty. Hope you didn't mind a walk in the dark with a dog....

!! I think one of the scariest things as a child was when I was home alone at night reading a book and my dogs jumped up and GROWLED at something out the window directly behind my head! I was FROZEN for I don't know how long!
Your 55 was so comforting up until the very end... Yikes.
oo that is scare...when all the sounds start to drown out and you still see the lights off in the distance...ok i got shivers...
Yvonne...
Ha!!!! You didn't miss a beat!
Loved your story.
And no, I didn't mind the walk at all...:-)

What an intriguing little snippet. It's just enough to make me want more.
Spooky 55...
" eye of the moon" = Fabulous!
and scary is ok except when my dogs go crazy- like Margaret said!
Enjoyed. So very good.
Ooooer dogs can see and hear things we can't - that's worrying! Great writing!
Kind of gives me a chill. I just love how much story one can pack into so few words. Nicely done.
A sudden spooky turn! I like it!
Love it! THose kinds of moments are so incredibly spooky! :)
And I think THIS may count as another spooky one, but for different reasons!
You left us hanging here....Nice one ~
Oh, I want to know what happened next.
Thanks everybody. I'm making the rounds, chasing the G-Man. He's hard to keep up with!
I really want to know what's going on here..... What has the dog seen? Good 55
Oh, you can't just leave us hanging... Great suspenseful 55, Yvonne.
Hey all....that's what the man forces us to do with but 55 words to play with. It leaves everyone hanging. I don't like it,anymore than you:) But still I play, again and again. Thank you for reading and commenting, which makes it worthwhile.
