Flash Friday Photograph

Because Friday is the day for other things, like Happy Hour, it's a good day for shorts. I was inspired to participate in Flash 55 Photograph by C.M. Jackson. This particular Flash Friday idea was started several years ago by Susie the Boss. Check out her link for the reasons behind why and to read the most amazing flash ever by Ernest Hemingway.

Finally, if you can say it in 55 words, let the G-Man know.

My 55-word photograph:

MAKING ROOM AT THE BEDSIDE

We'd gone home for sleep when the phone rang, calling us back. The monitor was turned off, and the machine that had heaved oxygen into her lungs lifting her shoulders and chest off the mattress was gone. The sheet was tucked under her chin, and her mouth was closed. She’d waited until we were gone.

This under 55 is a very cool concept--entirely new to me. And your paragraph is just, wow. How sad. Says so much in just a few words. Nicely done.

I'm with Carol - this is new - and I like it. I've been in that exact situation. Sad. Hard, very hard.

Yvonne...?
What a mysterious girl you are.
For someone doing a first 55, how did you know about Susie?
No one else ever gave a rip about the History of the 55.
Not only that, but you nailed this PERFECT!
Thank you so very much for this fine contribution, and I hope to see you next Friday.
Please have a Kick Ass Week-End..

Anthony,
Thank you so much. You have an astounding site...rather like walking into a campus library. Thank you for stopping by.

Brian,
Hello! Another new face. Thank you very much. And I love your blog, wonderful poetry, which I don't often run across. Thanks again.

Carolina,
Thank you. Yes, I also thought it cool and a good writerly exercise. Thanks too for coming over so often.

Jemi,
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. The nurse said that people often wait until everyone is gone. Isn't that odd?

Shakira,
Thank you!
GONG XI FA CAI! to you also. I'll check out your site and read your 55. Have a great weekend.

C.M.,
You're welcome. It was the least I could do!

G-Man,
Wow! Not only are we neighbors but you're the first person I've met here who is even close to my neck of the woods. This is very cool. Lot's of cool stuff going on in Flint regardless of what outlanders think.

I'm not that mysterious...just a little "odd" as my family will attest. (I like to walk the lakeshore ice) I found out about Susie from your own blog...just followed the links. I like to give credit where credit is due and, yes, I'll be back next Friday! Thank you for running the show. I will have a kick-ass weekend. Going to a beer-making, mead-making demonstration this afternoon.

Cheers!
