Tracks in the
snow around the headstone
lit by the moon
in their going somewhere—
sparrow,
hedgehog, booted foot—
lit by the moon determined
and blue
and there! a
wreath dropped fragrant and green
blanketed by
snow and lit by the moon.
For Poets United midweek motif with focus on the moon

I like the very cool setting, and visualizing the tracks in the snow. And then the fragrant wreath. Beautiful setting of the scene.
This is a very peaceful scene. I luv the introduction of remembrance in the wreath and sublety of fragrance
Happy you dropped by my blog today Yvonne
Happy Blue Moon
Much💟love
resting in peace under a blue moon.
:lit by the moon" becomes magical in repetition, so that everything glows in moonlight.
I love the way this spills:
sparrow, hedgehog, booted foot
Sherry, Thank you so much!
Gillena, thanks and you're welcome.
Truedessa, thanks for reading.
Susan,Thank you, it was quite a magical sight.
De, Thanks!
The whole of 'lit by the moon' is serene & spectacular specially when it's sketched by perfect words as this poem. Gorgeous.
The picture painted with word is just awesome, wish it stays like this!
A beautiful poem; I'm tempted to call it perfect.
I am always sad when people cannot see the beauty all around them. Your poem illustrates that gift so well for it is not hard to find in any season.
Sumana, thank you so much.
Vandana, Thank you. I strive to paint a picture with words and I'm glad you saw that.
Rosemary,
Oh, thank you! But you know I won't be able to look at it again without making a change: the scourge of a writer.
Old Egg (You aren't old!) thank you... I try to see the world untouched by technology.
A lovely piece!
the subtle mysteries, the unexpected as it reveals itself .... imprints, tracks, presence where one feels like there isn't anything - but there always is something, in the quiet, the long question - what do we witness, and is it a privilege
very elegant and like a quiet murmur :)
Annell,
Thank you so much for reading my little piece and commenting.
Wild Child,
What a nice compliment! I always prefer a murmur over a shout.
Admirably succinct, and the imagery you paint with your words is so beautiful!
Wonderfully painted moment.
Enjoyed..
Khaya, Thank you so much. Sometimes it's hard to be succinct...always tempted to add more.
Tony, Hello, my painter friend. Thank you!
Such a stunning scene you have painted here with your words, Yvonne 💖
Thank you, Sanaa.
I love cemeteries and you painted this one beautifully.
Really like all the creatures moving through the moonlight,
Elizabeth
Liza,
Thank you! Cemeteries are interesting, especially the older ones.
Soulsmusic,
Thank you!
Beautiful night. :-)
Myword,
Thank you!!
Yvonne, I am very touched by your prose and your poem. It is a perfect poem, and yes one thing does remind us of everything else, everything is connected. The death of a pet strikes deep. And soon all the deaths pile up, and we become overwhelmed. Such good companions in life, part of what is not left....the bell tolls for them.
