I just signed a publishing contract with Unsolicited Press out of Portland Oregon. I'm so excited! It's a long process and the novel won't be published until early 2024. It seems like a long time, but I know that is to be expected. Out of the thousands of submissions they received, they said mine was one of forty projects they seclected for publication in 2023/2024.
I wanted to share this with my blogging community, and expressly today with Poets and Storytellers. Many of you have been so supportive over the years. You know who you are, and a huge thank you goes out to each and every one of you. And remember, the only failed writer is the one who quits.
Here's a toast to poets and writers who never quit!

What a glorious news, Yvonne! I am so happy for you. Thanks so much for sharing your news with us. And congratulations!
Hearty congratulations! It's exciting when one of our little group achieves their dreams. We celebrate with you!
Congratulations!!! How awesome is that!
How marvellous! Congratulations!
If it's going to be a long process, I think that augurs well. Your book will probably receive good editing. These days, many novels disappoint me because of poor copy editing. (It may be a fault of auto-correct, which doesn't get picked up later as it should be.)
I love the quote under the picture, and also 'the only failed writer is the one who quits'.
Awesome! I'm very happy for you.
Congratulations....good news !
Thanks Tony!
Magaly,
Thank you so much. I still can't believe it's happening!
Bev,
Thank you. I just had to share it.
Graham,
It's pretty awesome. I keep pinching myself. Thanks!
Rosemary,
I agree. I'm fine with the editorial calendar. I abhor auto correct. It makes a writer look careless or worse, stupid. Whenever I see a typo in a book it sets me back. You can't help but feel a little less impressed, no matter how much you liked it up to that point. Thanks for your support. Everyone in this community is awesome.
Colleen,
Thank you so much!!

Thank you. Yes, perhaps that's when it will finally sink in.
Thank you so much for sharing such wonderful and encouraging news, for us as a community to join in the celebrations. Because a victory to one is a victory for all. Congratulations, Yvonne!
Khaya,
Thanks for commenting. Yes, believe me, if I could persevere and do it, any determined writer can hone their craft and succeed. I started writing novels over twenty years ago. This is my third for which I finally got a publishing contract. And my rejections might not rival Stephen King's but I have my share! Then of couse there's the fact that I can't not write. Thank you again.
OMG! Congrats! What a wonderful achievement. You must be over the moon. <3
Rommy! Yes, indeed, I am. Thank you so much!!
Congratulations, Yvonne! That is wonderful news! Way to go!
Congratulations! I hope it becomes a success for you.
Sherry,
Thank you!!
Joel,
Thanks, I hope so too. I think the hardest part is ahead of me. All that editing and proofreading, etc. But that part is fun too.
This is such wonderful news! Congratulations. Time will fly and before you know it you will be holding your book in your hands!
Exciting!
A wonderful read. I like the repeated lines, so powerful and adore the haiku with its one-eyed bird.
